In Memory of Linda Weeks
Our long serving LightHouse Directo Lida weeks went home to be with her Lord on June 19th, 2011. Long before she began her work at the LightHouse Rescue Mission, Linda served women in our community with God's passion.
At her community memorial service a portion of scripture was shared that serves as a description of Linda's life. It is found in Hebrews twelve verses one and two.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith."
Linda ran the race that God set before her with little to slow her down. For those of us at the LightHouse, and anyone that has ever met her, there was never any doubt where Linda stood. Both in her faith in God and her commitment to making a real difference in the lives of the people that she came into contact with. Linda didn't just talk about loving those in need, she did it.
The LightHouse Rescue Mission would not be where it is today if God had not provided Linda an opportunity to serve with us. She would want nothing more than to see God's work continue on our mission in the community and to those women and children that are in need of love and compassion.
